Bio.

Anthony Knight was born in London and studied fashion design at Southgate Technical College, London College of Fashion and the Chelsea School of Art.

After working at the Central St. Martins School of Art and Middlesex Polytechnic, he worked with Sartoria Invitation, learning the art of British tailoring. He then collaborated with Major B, a young designer collective in London.

Anthony moved to Italy in the 80s and began his career working on patterns for designers Samuele Mazza, Emilio Cavallini and i Visconti in Florence. He worked in Modena at the studios Tricote Style and Les Copains, in Treviso for United Colors of Benetton, in Vicenza for Moschino Jeans (Sportswear International), in New York for Calvin Klein, and for Rick Owens.

After settling in Venice, Anthony began his ongoing collaboration with the costume shop of La Fenice opera house. He has designed and made the costumes for opera productions at Teatro Regio di Torino and Musica a Palazzo in Venice.

Anthony collaborates on projects for artists, performers and designers, such as Ralph Lemon for Palazzo Grassi and Luca Nichetto for Vitale Barberis Canonico. His fashion collaborations include the design and production of Totem jackets and PAFFF kidswear.

Anthony is the professor of patternmaking and clothing construction for Università IUAV Venice. He also taught at the Women’s Prison in Venice, teaching the craft of sewing, patternmaking and confection.

Anthony lives in Venice, Italy, and travels the world, to Japan, Egypt, Somalia, Ukraine, teaching special workshops that have a social empowerment agenda.
